π‘ Scenario: Protrusions on Number "5"
When you convert text (like the number '5') to mesh or perform bending operations, unwanted polygon protrusions can appear at the corners. We have 3 main methods to clean them up.
The most flexible method. You draw your own cut line:
- Enter Edit Mode: Press
Tab. - Activate: Press
K. Your cursor will turn into a knife. - Cut: Click where the protrusion starts, drag to the end, and click again.
- Complete: Press
Enterto confirm the cut. - Cleanup: Select the cut part and press
X -> Facesto delete it.
Use a cube or another object like a cookie cutter to "tear off" the protrusion:
- Add Template: Add a Cube to the scene and place it over the protrusion.
- Select Main Object: Select the number "5".
- Modifier: Add Add Modifier -> Boolean.
- Settings: Set mode to Difference. Choose the Cube in the Object box.
- Apply: Click the arrow on the modifier and select Apply. When you delete the Cube, you'll see the area is cut.
Perfect for slicing through an entire object along a straight line:
- Select everything in Edit Mode (
A). - Hold down the Knife tool in the left toolbar and select Bisect.
- Draw a line across the object.
- In the panel that opens at the bottom left, check Clear Outer or Clear Inner. One side of the line will disappear completely!
- Fill: If you don't want the cut area to be hollow, check the Fill box.
π¨ Important Note:
Cutting operations can mess up your mesh topology. To clean up unnecessary extra vertices, use the Remesh modifier in Object Mode, or press M -> Merge by Distance in Edit Mode to merge overlapping points.
